Gemba is one of the most well-known components of lean management, yet we find that outside of manufacturing, we may not see it as a foundational aspect of lean application. In this short discussion, we will explore the power of Gemba and find ways where we might be able to incorporate it into our everyday life as a method to kick start or reenergize our application of lean.

Biography

Taylor has been at Sandia for approximately 3 years, in various roles across the labs with a focus on lean and continuous improvement deployment. In her current role, Taylor is responsible for developing a Business Management Office comprised of training, standards, and processes to support the broader business community at Sandia in meeting and exceeding their business goals.  Prior to Sandia, Taylor worked in the consumer products industry for both P&G and General Mills where she helped to deploy and mature lean methods in engineering and manufacturing settings. She holds a BS in Mechanical Engineering from the University of New Mexico.
