This seminar will discuss the history of human factors, what it is, and how it has become integrated into many aspects of our work and home life. Human Factors is all about fitting people to the system rather than fitting the system to each person. It is important that we design the roles and the systems for the humans, based on their needs and abilities. Anytime the human is not taken into consideration, the user may be unhappy, the system may not be used correctly or have ideal performance and the opportunity for errors increase dramatically. Of course, in some domains, such as aviation, these errors can lead to catastrophic accidents. After attending this seminar, I hope the participants will acquire new ways of thinking about their own environments and what they can do to make it more safe, efficient and improve ease of use.
